A scheme was recent passed in which sixteen cities in the Yangtze River delta region aim to standardize road signs for sightseeing direction.
The scheme, a part of the activity to keep in line with the tourism cooperation in the region, set detailed requirements on tourist road signs that are going to be put, such as the location, the way they are put, the total number of signs and their sizes.
A spokesman at the Shanghai Tourism Development Committee said scenic spots in the Yangtze River delta region were divided into three categories and the number of private cars visiting the site was taken into consideration for the first time when these sites are grouped.
By 2007, such new road signs are expected to appear at all major roads in the big and medium cities of the Yangtze River delta region.
