Government officials in Guangzhou have set up an all-chicken banquet. This in the hope of averting panic set off by bird flu.
But some people question the move, saying the government is leaving the health of the public behind.
The Guangzhou Daily argues it's a good thing.
It says giving up eating poultry products for fear of bird flu is not a good attitude. It's important to let the public know the safe way of cooking and eating poultry and eggs.
The paper says scientific results show if properly cooked, there is no risk of bird-flu to consumers. The Guangzhou government's all-chicken banquet promotes that knowledge.
The government is not putting on a political show, the paper says. Rather, it is fulfilling its responsibly by giving the public useful knowledge.
