A new highest skywheel around the world will be build in Xiamen, a scenic coastal city in east China, Sunday's People's Daily reported.
The wheel, with a diameter of 138 meters, will be placed in a park and rotate once for half an hour. The illuminations on the wheel will change with the seasons, the newspaper said.
It will replace the London Eye, which was built in 1999 and has a diameter of 137 meters, as the new champion wheel in the world, it said.
The wheel-featuring project will cover 63,000 square meters and is estimated to cost 75 million U.S. dollars.
The paper did not say when the project is scheduled to open and finish.
