Washington-bound Flight Diverted over Passenger Disturbance

A passenger flight bound for the U.S. capital, Washington, D.C., was diverted Wednesday morning to Boston's Logan International Airport in the northeast of the country because of a passenger disturbance, the CNN reported.

No terrorism was involved in the incident, federal law enforcement officials were quoted as saying.

Fighter jets escorted the plane when it was heading for the Logan airport.

But other news reports said a passenger had vaseline, a screwdriver, matches and a note referring to al Qaida.

The plane, United Flight 923 with 182 passengers and 12 crew members aboard, was flying from London to Washington, and three passengers were involved in the confrontation.

All the passenger had been taken off the plane, and their carry-on luggage was being checked.
