World top women fencer Valentina Vezzali has found her Universiade gold medal she lost in a cab hours after she won it Friday in the closely-fought final.
Vezzali, Olympic team and individual foil gold medalist in Sydney, edged out China's Meng Jie 8-7 in the final. In her way back from a celebration with her friends in a Beijing pizza restaurant Friday night, she left her gold medal in the cab.
Vezzali called the restaurant boss, who called the police.
Early Saturday morning, the police handed the gold medal to Vezzali.
