Beijing on Tuesday.

The crew from the 1981 classic and the current remake were on
hand on the star-studded night, including directors Hsu Hsiao-Ming
and Stanley Kwan, actress Michelle Mee and actor Ekin Cheung.
Only the actor who played the lead in the original Huo Yuanjia
series was absent.
The high popular original series follows the exploits of martial
arts master Huo Yuanjia. He helped the Chinese people restore their
pride and nationalism when their country was being invaded by the
allied forces of the eight powers in 1900.
50-year-old Michelle Mee gained her fame after starring in the
original drama as a young woman.
"I was so young when I played in the series. I could handle kung
fu scenes since I shot many action films before. But my character's
relationship with lead role Huo Yuanjia was a big challenge for
me," she said.
Michelle Mee said she will not appear in the remake because she
wants her original performance to stay unmarred.
The new remake stars Hong Kong actors Ekin Cheng and Jordan
Chan. It began shooting last month at Hukou Waterfall in west
China.
Lead actor Ekin Cheung (L)
and Jordan Chan star in the remake of the TV drama, December
20.
