British rock singer, guitarist, bassist, songwriter and composer
George Roger Waters will kick off a solo concert "The Dark Side of
the Moon Live" in Hong Kong next month.
The 64-year-old rock musician is best known for his illustrious
1965-1985 career with the band Pink Floyd as their main songwriter,
and responsible for the majority of the album concepts (from 1968),
one of their chief singers (along with David Gilmour and Syd
Barrett), and bass player. He was also the mastermind behind the
majority of many of Pink Floyd's symbols including the Pink Floyd
Pigs and the marching hammers.
Following this, he began a moderately successful solo career
releasing three studio albums and staging one of the largest
concerts ever, "The Wall Concert" in Berlin, in 1990.
In 2005, he released an opera, "Ca Ira" and rejoined Pink Floyd
for the "Live 8" concert in London, their first public performance
together in 24 years.
