Chinese director Zhang Yibai's latest romance movie The
Longest Night in Shanghai will be the opening film in Shanghai
at this year's Beijing Student Film Festival.
A joint project between China and Japan, the movie tells the
story of a female driver, played by Chinese actress Zhao Wei, and a
Japanese stylist, played by Japanese heartthrob Masahiro Motoki, in
Shanghai. The two characters break through the language barrier and
succeed in communicating at the end.
Different from a traditional romance, this movie observes the
relationship from a third party's perspective.
Many English songs are used in the movie.
Now in its 14th year, the Bejing Student Film Festival has 35
Chinese movies on its competition list.
They will be shown between April 8 and 28 at Beijing Normal
University and the China Film Archive.
The organizers have also selected 50 other Chinese movies to
show at 100 colleges in eight cities across China, including
Shanghai, Guangzhou and Chengdu.
