Taiwan superstar singer Chang Hui-mei has become the newest
addition to a slew of big musical names under the EMI umbrella.
The singer, better known as A-mei, signed a contract on Monday
with EMI Music, following fellow Asian pop divas Jolin Tsai and
Stefanie Sun.
EMI threw a party-like press conference to welcome the star at
Hong Kong's luxurious Felix Restaurant at the Peninsula Hotel. The
company even rented a helicopter to send A-mei to the scene.
EMI Music Asia chairman Norman Cheng said the company is proud
to have A-mei on board and it will seek to explore a worldwide
market for her.
A-mei also expressed her excitement and hopes that her new
record company will help her develop a more shining career.
The 35-year-old burst onto the Mandopop scene in 1996 and soon
became one of the best-selling artists in Asia.
