Xiao Qiucheng arrives at Hong Kong on April
19, 2007.
"Without any dreams, one is wasting his life in vain; having a
dream but not to try to fulfill it, one is only daydreaming."
Xiao Qiucheng, a 43-year-old man from central China's Henan Province, is on his march to pursue his
dream of hiking across the country within 5 years.
The Hong Kong-based Ming Pao newspaper reports that Xiao
Qiucheng has recently arrived in Hong Kong, completing a 6,
000-kilometer leg of his hiking journey.
Xiao Qiucheng started his tour at Lianyungang, east China's Jiangsu Province, last October.
"Taking steps on your own feet is totally different from taking
a ride, in terms of its meaning. You cannot reach your destination,
even if you miss only one pace," said Xiao Qiucheng.
At each city at which he stops, Xiao Qiucheng writes a
certificate letter, and asks the local government to put a stamp on
it. He has now gathered more than 300 such letters.
His next stages will cover Macao and the southern island
province of Hainan.
