It had been previously stated that Prison Break star
Wentworth Miller was contacted by Zhongbo Media Group, who have
bought the rights from Fox to shoot an online video adaptation of
the American hit TV drama; however, a recent report suggests that
this was a hoax.
But Shanghai Morning Post learned from the Fox TV
Chinese branch yesterday that the production and the star himself
didn't know anything about the supposed project. According to Fox,
the Wentworth Miller and Prison Break Chinese online video
stories are totally false.
Zhongbo Media Group still insists the stories are true, stating
they are "nearly signing the contract with Fox TV channel's agent."
They said they would hold a press conference later to clarify the
issue.
Despite the probable hoax, one thing may cheer up Chinese fans:
The Star TV network will exclusively broadcast the first two
seasons on the Chinese mainland starting July 6. The network said
the video quality and subtitles translation will be far better than
those circulated around the Internet before Prison Break's
official entry to China.
Prison Break has just completed its second season on
the Fox TV channel and will soon begin shooting its 3rd season.
