Kimbo Hu, Taiwan aboriginal singer and legendary blues artist,
together with Taiwan folk music group Wild Fire staged a concert at
the Centennial Hall of Peking University on Tuesday night.
Dubbed "Sing the Songs of My Own", the concert tour was launched
by Wild Fire in colleges both in the Chinese mainland and
Taiwan.
Wild Fire is the first opportunity to promote Taiwan's
aboriginal music in Chinese mainland universities.
Besides Kimbo Hu, other folk singers from Wild Fire, including
Chen Yonglong, Xiaomei and Lu Jiexing, presented their best
performances to Peking University students Tuesday night.
Souvenirs like magazines, CDs and T-shirts were given out to
audience members.
The tour kicked off in the National Tsing Hua University in
Taiwan last month, which also marked the 30th anniversary of the
death of Taiwan folk music pioneer Li Shuangze.
Later this month -- on May 27 and May 30 -- Kimbo Hu and Wild
Fire will take their guitars to perform in Shanghai and
Guangzhou.
