Microsoft Corp and Shanghai Media Group today signed a strategic
cooperation deal in entertainment applications for computers,
televisions and cell phones.
Microsoft will provide the handsets, operation platform and
software, including IPTV (Internet Portal TV) technologies,
according to the agreement signed in Shanghai.
SMG, the biggest TV and radio group in Shanghai, will provide
content and entertainment. The product is expected to debut later
this year.
Shanghai's IPTV service contains 58 channels via cooperation
with SMG, the country's second largest media giant behind only
China Central Television.
