Taiwan singer Jay Chou will work with fans to write a song for
the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
The 28-year-old singer-songwriter said he would like to solicit
help on the lyrics from the public in order to write the song. He
made this appeal when he was interviewed on a TV program in Beijing
on October 21.
Chou usually works with his long-time partner and composer
Vincent Fang Wen Shan, but he decided this time to select lyrics
from the public before putting them to music.
"I will definitely follow my previous style, with the music
having a Chinese flavor, to let foreigners know the charisma of
Chinese culture," Chou explained.
"It might add a little bit rock and roll elements," the pianist
added, saying he prefers electric guitar to piano to give more
strength.
Two of Chou's works, Nunchakus and Dragon
Fists, were played at the 2004 Athens Olympics, and the singer
said he would try to enunciate the lyrics as clearly as possible
this time so that it won't sound like he's humming the words.
