"Lust, Caution" actress Tang Wei finally broke her long-time
silence about her former boy friend Tian Yu, saying she definitely
won't have played in the movie without his support, media reported
Tuesday.
Cast member Tang Wei
attends the premiere of "Lust, Caution" at the Academy of Motion
Picture Arts and Sciences in Beverly Hills, California Oct. 3,
2007. The movie opens in Los Angeles on Oct. 5.
"Tian Yu is important to me, and for years, he is the person who
treats me the best. He always cares about and helps me quietly.
Without him, I definitely won't play in 'Lust, Caution,' and won't
have the success I've made today," said Tang in a recent
interview.
Tang remained calm about her sudden stardom following "Lust,
Caution": "Actually, people don't have to praise me so much; I know
who I am. I hope that I will win an Oscar some day. But I have to
do it step by step and wait for the chance."
Tang broke up with Tian after she finished the shooting of the
Chinese-language spy thriller. Although various media reports say
the naked scenes in the movie may cause their split, Tian has
refused to reveal the real reason, just saying that they remain
friends.
