Chinese-born actress Bai Ling was arrested at Los Angeles
International Airport on suspicion of shoplifting items worth 16
U.S. dollars, media reports said.
The 37-year-old star, who has appeared in such films as "The
Crow" and "Red Corner," was taken into custody on Wednesday
afternoon after leaving the store with two celebrity magazines and
the batteries, Los Angeles Aiport Police sergeant Jim Holcomb said
Thursday.
She was booked for investigation of misdemeanor shoplifting and
released after agreeing to appear in court on March 5.
The actress was cooperative and admitted to police officers that
she hadn't paid for the merchandise, Holcomb said.
The day of her arrest, Bai Ling posted on her personal blog
pictures of herself standing outside the Southwest Airlines
terminal at LAX on Wednesday but did not mention the arrest.
"Life is a sad song sometime but still sings the beauty for
their loved ones," she wrote.
