A man has been arrested for allegedly hitting Hong Kong singer Fiona Sit with a filled beverage bottle while she attended a local charity event on Saturday, the China News Service reported.
Sit and two other singers, Endy Chow and Pakho Chau, were at a charity event held by McDonald's on Saturday afternoon. After performing onstage, they joined the crowd when a man standing about two meters away from Sit hit her with a bottle, witnesses told local media. There were about 100 fans onsite.
The bottle hit Sit's right forehead and then hit an event staff worker. The two were taken to a nearby hospital, while police apprehended the suspected attacker.
Sit appeared very upset and cried in front of photographers at the hospital. She said she had no idea who hit her or why.
The suspect, a 27-year-old man surnamed Lian, said he dropped the bottle accidentally, because the area was too crowded, local media reported. He is to appear on court on Monday.
