A 200m stretch of the Yangtze river bank has collapsed in Anhui province, forcing local villagers to evacuate the area.

A 200m stretch of the Yangtze river bank has collapsed in Anhui province, forcing local villagers to evacuate the area. No villagers were injured in the collapse and the local government has transported 13 families to safety.

A total 39 people have been moved to a temporarily shelter. The local government has provided food, daily necessities and money subsidies to victims. The area of the collapse has been isolated and 150 rescue workers are working to prevent any further landslips. An initial investigation showed that river course diversion might have triggered the landslip.
