The radiation level in Hong Kong remained normal in the past 24 hours, the Hong Kong Observatory said Monday.
No artificial radionuclide was detected from air samples collected at King's Park and Yuen Ng Fan from noon on April 2 to noon on April 3.
The Water Supplies Department of Hong Kong continues to monitor the radioactivity level of Dongjiang water supplied to Hong Kong, raw water from impounding reservoirs and fresh water. In the past 24 hours, the monitoring results showed no observable change in the radioactivity level of all samples. The radiological quality of fresh water remains normal and safe.
In regard to food safety, samples were collected from local fish culture zones and fish wholesale markets under the city's Fish Marketing Organization for radiological testing on a daily basis. In the past 24 hours, the results of all collected samples were satisfactory.
Samples including aquatic products, vegetables, fruits, milk powder and others imported from Japan, 53 by air and 47 by sea in the past 24 hours, were found satisfactory after examined by the city's Center for Food Safety.
The Hong Kong government said they will continue to closely monitor the development of the nuclear incident in Fukushima, Japan.
