Twenty-seven people have died and five remain missing as of Wednesday afternoon following a rain-triggered landslide that buried manufacturing facilities in northwest China's Shaanxi Province on Saturday, according to the local rescue headquarters.

Rescuers recovered the bodies of six missing people on Tuesday and had found the bodies of four others as of Wednesday afternoon, bringing the death toll to 27, said a spokesperson with the headquarters.

The landslide occurred around 2 p.m. on Saturday, burying a brick factory and destroying part of a ceramics plant in Baqiao, a suburban district in the province's capital of Xi'an.

Rescue efforts sped up in the past two days as the rain had stopped, said the spokesperson.
