Thai warned of heavy rain, flash floods

Thailand's Meteorological Department on Saturday issued a warning for people in all regions to prepare for widespread scattered rain with heavy falls in some areas and the danger of floods today and in the next few days, Bangkok Post online reported.

The department said strong monsoon is now prevailing over the North and Northeast and the southwest monsoon prevails over the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea. This will cause widespread scattered rain in all regions.

People living near hillsides and waterways in northern province of Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lampang, norheastern province of Uttaradit, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, eastern province of Chanthaburi, Trat, southern province of Ranong and Phangnga should prepare for heavy rain and flash flooding, it warned.
