A 5-magnitude temblor hit Varzaqan in Iran's East Azerbaijan province at 22:19 p.m. local time (GMT 1749) Wednesday, according to the Iranian Seismological Center.

The epicenter was at the depth of 4 km, 38.41 degrees north latitude and 46.67 degrees east longitude, according to the report.

A local in Tabriz, the provincial capital of East Azerbaijan, said that the quake was felt in the city.

Wednesday's quake followed the twin powerful earthquakes of 6.2- and 6-magnitude which hit the region last Saturday and left at least 306 dead and over 3,000 injured.

On Tuesday, another 5.3-magnitude temblor hit Varzaqan but no report about the casualties has been released.
