Indonesia will plant more trees to decrease deforestation

The Indonesian Ministry of Forestry sets to plant one billion trees in 2013, local media reported here Tuesday.
"We have set a target to plant one billion of trees in 2013," Minister of forestry, Zulkifli Hasan was quoted by Antara news agency as saying.
He said government had planted at least one billion of trees or even more, every year. In 2010, the government targeted to plant one billion trees, but in its execution exceeds target to 1,3 billion trees that include public planting.
In 2011, the government had planted 1,5 billion trees and up to October 2012 the number of trees that already planted reached 800 million. He expected it will be reached more than one billion by the end of the year.
"We always exceed the target every year and we appreciate the Indonesian people because planting trees had become their lifestyle," he said.
The government claims that Indonesia has passed the most critical phase of deforestation era. "We are now entering the era of restoring our forests. It takes time," he said.
In 2012, the government provided 2 trillion rupiah (around 208. 59 million U.S. dollars) for trees planting program and the similar number is estimated in 2013.
