An earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale jolted near the east coast of the Kamchatka Peninsula, Russia at 05:43:48 Hong Kong Time on Wednesday (21:43: 48 GMT on Tuesday), the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 133.80 km, was initially determined to be at 53.0124 degrees north latitude and 158.0453 degrees east longitude.
