Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha on Monday pledged more investments to protect the environment during the inauguration of a wastewater treatment plant in Durres.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the 11-million euro plant, Berisha said that his center-right government will support investments for environmental protection and construction of other wastewater treatment facilities around the country in the next four years.
"We are committed to turn seas and lakes' shorelines into the cleanest and most beautiful ones in the Balkans and Europe. This is our promise to Albanian citizens for protection of the environment and the cities where they live," Berisha said
He underlined that the Albanian government considers environmental protection a crucial factor to create more sustainable economic growth.
He also noted that construction of the wastewater treatment plant in Durres was part of the government policies on environmental protection and development.
