From Thursday night to Friday, some areas in the provinces of Gansu, Shaanxi, Sichuan, Yunnan, Guangxi, Guangdong and Hainan, as well as Chongqing City, will see heavy rain or rainstorms, the National Meteorological Center (NMC) said in a statement.

Strong gales or hails are likely to accompany the rain in those regions, the center said.

The NMC asked local authorities to take precautions against possible disasters that the strong rainfalls may bring, including waterlogging, floods and landslides.

There is a high risk of a geological disaster in the quake-hit Lushan County, the center warned.

China has a four-color warning system for strong rain, with red being the most serious, followed by orange, yellow and blue.
