Riders choose many different kinds of ways to protect themselves from the scorching heat in Hangzhou on August 12, 2013.


The capital city of eastern Zhejiang Province has had eight straight days exceeding 40 degrees Celsius since last Monday while some areas in the coastal province even saw the mercury above 43 degrees last week.

 

In Shanghai, it is getting cooler, with yesterday's maximum temperature below 38 degrees Celsius, heralding the start of a weeklong cooldown due to the effect of the southeast wind which will gradually lower temperatures throughout the week.
