A research team of experts from the Angolan Sciences Education Institute (ISCED) have located animal species previously believed to be endangered in the Bicuar wildlife reserve in the southern Huila province, the official news agency Angop reported on Friday.

Coordinator for the team Agostinho Manuel da Silva said the team managed to locate animals like the cheetah, leopard hunter, hyena, lions, elephants, pacochero pig and zebra.

The coordinator also mentioned the return of herds of olongos, red and brown antelope, oribi, punja, bambis and several prey birds such as eagles, vultures and crows in the national reserve park.

The joint research program started in 2004 and it was carried out by ISCED and the Agriculture Department.

The official said the location process of the species followed the studies and researches conducted in the wildlife reserve.

The 7,900 square km Bicuar wildlife reserve was created in 1953 and is tasked with protection of wild animals in the African country.
