SW China forest on fire

Firefighters are trying to extinguish fire in a forest in southwest China's Yunnan Province on Wednesday, according to the provincial forest fire team.

A total of 935 people, including 70 forest policemen, have been mobilized to put out the fire that started at about 1:56 p.m. near Songshi Village of Lufeng County.

As of 7:45 p.m., most of the fire has been brought under control, but flames in the southern areas of the forest are yet to be tamed. No casualties have been reported so far.

Local authorities are investigating the cause of the fire and evaluating the area it raged through.
