The government of Nanchang, Jiangxi province, said on Wednesday that the dead pigs floating in a section of the Ganjiang River will not influence the quality of tap water, china.cnr.cn reported.

As of Wednesday evening, 163 dead pigs had been collected from the river that provides water to the provincial capital.

The local government said examinations showed that the main parts and organs of the dead pigs had no significant lesions, and that all water intakes met the national quality standard.

The pigs belonged to a local farmer surnamed Zeng. The case is still being investigated.
