An inspection of China's air pollution law enforcement has begun, in advance of revision to the law later this year.
The inspection will continue until August, a statement released after a Wednesday meeting by the group responsible for the inspection under the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), the top legislature.
The inspection will focus on emission control, certificates for waste discharge, monitoring reports, measures to improve air quality and industrial upgrades.
While collecting opinions on the revision to the law, the inspection also plans to uncover illegal activities and pursue officials involved.
The air pollution prevention and control law was adopted in 1987 and revised in 1995 and 2000.
