The lli Pika, an extremely rare creature with a teddy bear face and bunny-like ears, was spotted for the first time in China in more than 20 years, National Geographic reported.

The mammal, scientifically known as Ochotona Iliensis, was first discovered in the Tianshan Mountains in northwestern China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in 1983. It is one of the rarest and most endangered creatures in the world with less than 1,000 believed to be left in its natural habitat.

The International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) considered the lli Pika as vulnerable to extinction. An increase in grazing pressure and global atmospheric pollution resulting in climate change are negatively impacting their populations, according to the IUCN.
