Shanghai has been analyzing the source of tiny air pollutant PM2.5 particles regularly this year.
The Shanghai Environment Monitoring Center has set up six monitoring spots around the city to collect air samples to analyze the source of PM2.5 particles. A report is issued on a yearly basis.
The average PM2.5 density was 52 micrograms per cubic meter last year, while the World Health Organization's standard is 10 and the national limit is 35 respectively. Wei Huajun, the center's director, said it was not easy to analyze the source of PM2.5, and the results can turn out different "depending on the various ways and timings we collect the samples."
