Marine wildlife to disappear in 50 years
Populations of marine vertebrates have declined by 49 percent between 1970 and 2012, according to a report by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) in September. It also noted that some fish species even declined by almost 75 percent over a span of less than 50 years since 1970. The biggest drivers of these declining trends are human actions - mainly overfishing, habitat destruction and climate change. What will happen to the ocean's wildlife in the next 50 years if human beings continue illegal fishing, overharvesting and marine pollution?
