Drought has Amazon tributary at record low levels

The picture taken on Oct. 25, 2010 shows Amazon's main affluent the Black River which has got to its lowest level over the past 30 years due to a strong drought in Brazil. At least 40 of the 62 municipalities of the region are in state of emergency and 38,000 families are isolated without water, food and medicines. The Brazilian Air Force is helping deliver food to the affected regions.
