China's top political advisor has called on his counterparts to
contribute more on the country's population, resources and
environmental development.
Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese
People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), made the
remarks in Beijing on Wednesday when he met representatives of
the CPPCC's national and local committees of population, resources
and environment.
He said it is a primary political task at present and for a
period of time, to carefully study and implement the essence of the
recent 17th National Congress of the Communist Party of
China (CPC).
Jia urged members of the CPPCC's national and local committees
of population, resources and environment to incorporate the essence
of the Party Congress into its work, especially the content on
enhancing the savings of energy resources and the protection of
eco-environment, as well as on conservation culture.
The CPPCC has special advantages in building an energy-efficient
and environmentally-friendly society, Jia said. He called on CPPCC
members to earnestly investigate and study energy issues and raise
valuable proposals and advice to the Party and government.
