An earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale hit the Russia-Mongolia border region at 12:08 PM (0408 GMT) on Saturday, according to a bulletin released by the Hong Kong Observatory.
The epicenter was initially determined to be 52.3 degrees north latitude and 98.1 degrees east longitude, about 560 km northeast of Ulaangom, Mongolia.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.
