A magnitude-6.1 earthquake hit the northern coastal region of Peru Monday, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) reported.
The epicenter is located 750 km northwest of the Peruvian capital of Lima with a depth of 35 km, the USGS said in a statement.
It took place at 14:09:06 GMT, it said.
The information about damage and casualty is not immediately known.
