Floods caused by a major typhoon surging toward south China's Hainan Province have trapped at least 7,250 people, said the provincial flood control and drought relief headquarters on Saturday.
Floods of 1.3 meters to 1.7 meters in depth deluged at least 14 villages in Lingao and Changjiang counties of Hainan where the people were trapped, said the headquarters.
Flood also swept seven towns where 500,000 people live in Danzhou county, said the headquarters.
Rescue work is under way.
