Adjust font size:
Virologists from the World Health Organization and Russia have spoken highly of China's efforts to fight SARS.

At a press conference in London, WHO virologist Mark Salter says China's measures to control SARS have been effective and responsible. He notes SARS can be controlled, only with early detection and a complete surveillance system covering the whole world.

Russian virologist Gennajyi Onishenko, who is in charge of the country's disease prevention work, says China has made marvelous achievements in containing SARS. He added so far Russia has provided US$560,000 of aid to China.

In another development, overseas Chinese living in Belgium have donated nearly 40 thousand euros to the fight against SARS in China.
