Famous actress Song Chunli, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), gave an exclusive TV interview to China.org.cn in which she expressed her deep concern about the financial crisis.
She said: "Both NPC deputies and CPPCC members are very worried about the global financial crisis, especially its effect on the job markets for migrant workers and college graduates, and its implications for education, schools reform and other issues."
According to official figures, 6.11 million college students will graduate in China this year, and another million of last year's graduates are still looking for jobs.
The grim situation on the jobs front is one of the principle concerns of those attending this year's NPC and CPPCC, and it has been a major topic for discussion at the sessions.
Song told China.org.cn that she was discussing the issues with other members and deputies and would be putting forward proposals to help resolve them.
