A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) has
called for more efforts to reform China's judicial system in order
to build a harmonious society.
Luo Gan, a member of the Standing Committee of
the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau and secretary of the CPC
Central Committee for Political and Legislative Affairs, made the
remarks at a meeting on judicial system reform on Tuesday.
Luo said the sixth plenary session of the 16th Central Committee
of the Communist Party of China (CPC) had called for a fair,
efficient and authoritative judicial system.
He called for a stronger sense of responsibility and closer
cooperation in carrying out the reform.
He said that the judicial system should depend on the people and
serve the people. Reforms should be made after listening to
suggestions from the people and related departments to ensure a
more democratic and scientific process, Luo said.
