China's anti-graft chief on Wednesday urged local supervision authorities to beef up efforts to promote clean and efficient local governments.
He Guoqiang, secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, told a symposium of provincial supervision office heads that supervision should be strengthened and improved, based on the goal of building service-oriented, responsible, law-based and corruption-free governments.
He, also member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, said the supervision should be focused on law enforcement, anti-corruption efforts and efficient government.
In the area of law enforcement, local supervision bureaus should focus on local governments' implementation of the central government's policies on improving macro-controls, promoting scientific development and quake rebuilding, he said.
Meanwhile, supervision of local governments' clean governance and efficiency should also be stepped up, he said.
He also urged local governments to create favorable conditions for supervisory work.
