He said quick development of the west is for the benefits of local people and for the aim of facilitating the steady and relatively fast development of the Chinese economy.
Li said government measures to fight the global economic crisis are showing positive results, and the country's overall economic performance has stabilized and moving upwards.
But it should also be noted that the foundation for economic recovery is not yet stable and the government should continue adopting effective measures to guarantee the sustainable economic development, he added.
Li called on local governments to create more jobs for local farmers and more affordable homes should be built for low-income urban citizens.
He stresses the importance of solidarity and harmony among different ethnicities, as the country's western region is inhabited by various ethnic groups.
