Province Appoints Governors

Qin Guangrong was appointed acting governor of southwest China's Yunnan Province on Monday and Luo Zhengfu was appointed vice governor.

The appointment was made at the 25th session of the Standing Committee of the 10th Yunnan Provincial People's Congress, the local legislative body, held in the provincial capital of Kunming.

Qin, 56, has served as vice governor of Yunnan since January 2003, and Luo, 54, has served as a member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China Yunnan Provincial Committee since December 2001.

Monday's meeting also accepted the resignation of 64-year-old Xu Rongkai as governor of Yunnan, who has held the post since January 2002.
