Another high-ranking railway official was sacked on Tuesday in response to the deadly train collision on Monday that killed 70 and injured 416 in east China's Shandong Province.
Guo Jiguang, former executive deputy director of the Jinan Railway Bureau, was dismissed and subject to investigation by the Ministry of Railways, Liu Zhijun, railways minister, told an early morning emergency meeting.
Zhuang He, assistant to the director of the command center of the ministry's transportation bureau, was appointed to be new deputy director.
Two other officials with the Jinan Railway Bureau -- Chen Gong, former director and Chai Tiemin, former Party secretary -- were reportedly sacked on Monday.
They were replaced by Geng Zhixiu, deputy engineer-in-chief of the ministry, and Xu Chang'an, deputy chair of the ministry's trade union, respectively.
