Current Chief Executive (CE) of Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) Ho Hau Wah Tuesday said in a statement that new CE Chui Sai On has his full support in preparing for a new administration.
After winning the one-candidate CE election on July 26, Chui Sai On was appointed by China's State Council on Monday as the SAR' s new CE, which was required in the Basic Law, the SAR’ s mini-constitution.
Ho extended his congratulations to Chui Sai On on his appointment in an official statement released on Tuesday, saying Chui made outstanding achievements when he served as the SAR government's secretary for social affairs and culture, and the political platform he proposed has won the recognition by people from all walks of life.
Ho also said that he has repeatedly told the new CE in recent meetings that he and his current administration will ensure the SAR government's smooth transition to a new administration by creating the most favorable environment and conditions.
A CE directive will soon be announced, which will require all departments in the government to fully support Chui' s preparation work for a new administration in various fields, according to the statement.
Chui, 52, will start his five-year CE tenure from Dec. 20 this year.
