The Hong Kong Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department said Tuesday that two Silver-eared Mesias found earlier were confirmed to be H5N1 positive after a series of laboratory tests.

The carcasses of the Silver-eared Mesias were collected by the department staff on Feb. 7 at Boundary Street, Mong Kok.

A department spokesman reminded the public of observing good personal hygiene.

"They should avoid personal contact with wild birds and live poultry and clean their hands thoroughly after coming into contact with them," he said.
