The Center for Food Safety of Hong Kong announced Friday the
processing of applications for importing poultry and poultry
products from the United Kingdom, except the county of Suffolk, was
resumed with immediate effect.
The center suspended processing of applications from the United
Kingdom following confirmation of an outbreak of the highly
pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 on a poultry farm in Suffolk in
February.
"In view of the control measures taken by the United Kingdom and
the fact that there are no other cases of avian influenza reported,
we decide to resume processing of applications," a spokesman for
the center said.
"Restrictions are not lifted for Suffolk as we are still
monitoring the situation there," he added.
