Liang Yong, dubbed as “the fattest man in China”, arrived in
Yantai on Monday evening. He was invited by a fitness center to
fulfill a weigh-loss mission, according to Qingdao Morning
News.
Hailing from a peasant family in Sichuan Province, Liang Yong weighs as much as
210 kilos but he’s very short — only 1.55 meters tall.
Liang drew crowds upon his arrival in Laishan Airport in Yantai,
a coastal city located in northeast Shandong Province. His obesity is more
eye-catching than a beautiful woman. The local Fukang Fitness
Center has offered to help him cure his obesity.
Xu Qiufang, a doctor in the Fukang Fitness Center who
accompanied him on his trip, told Qingdao Morning News:
“We will help him lose 100 kilos; it will take two years. When his
weight is controlled at 110 kilos, he will undergo surgery to
tighten his skin to fit his body.”
Liang Yong became famous after the media reported on his weight
problem. The doctor told him his obesity was not genetic. His
problem has annoyed him since childhood and made him the target of
ridicule. He now performs as an entertainer but his income is
sporadic.
Last March, 28-year-old Liang was listed as China’s fattest man
by Guinness Book of Records in Shanghai.
